“The awful truth is, most men have no idea how they feel at any given time.” I read that somewhere once. Also read somewhere that “…their words tell you who they want to be. Their actions tell you who they actually are.” It’s more than likely that he’s been practicing (and is a skilled veteran at) the art of self-deception and denial. Because otherwise he couldn’t live with himself by not living up to the chivalrous, worthy, knight-in-shining-armor he so desperately needs to believe himself to be.
